It's good to be home from the tour!
Thursday, the Rep had it's now annual Chili Cook-off to raise money for the United Performing Arts Fund. It's a really fun event at the Rep, anyone on staff can enter and then for $5 you get a bowl, spoon and you can be a 'judge'. Last year, I didn't even place, but this year with a new recipe I took second place!!
The new recipe is for a Black Chili -
2 pounds of black angus beef, fried with roasted garlic and lots of black pepper
4 cans of black beans that had been soaked/tossed in lime juice and garlic powder
2 cans of diced tomatos with green chilies
1 12 oz. bottle dark beer
1 46 oz. bottle hot and spicy V-8 juice.
Serve with sour cream and blue corn tortilla chips.
I was in rehearsal, so Pete served at the event and we took second place!
The prize was two tickets to the Milwaukee Symphony. Because of my schedule the only concert we could go to was Saturday night, so we saw a Mother Goose suite (sweet), a violin concerto by John Adams (I didn't really like it, but Pete did and the violinist was wonderful) and finally - Beethoven's 7th Symphony which was fantastic.
It's good to be back in Milwaukee!
